Komodo Active User Reward on Hardware Wallets (Ledger/Trezor)

Ledger and Trezor are 3rd party companies responsible for producing hardware wallets for secure storage of cryptocurrencies.

While hardware wallets have supported storing Komodo for quite some time, previously it was not possible to claim the Active User Reward .

The Komodo app running on the hardware wallets could not sign reward claim transactions due to outputs being larger than inputs, resulting in an error. This needed to be fixed in the Komodo Ledger app (that runs on the device, not Ledger Live) before any software could get the Ledger to sign a reward claim transaction.

Thanks to Atomic Labs developer Luke Childs , a fix was submitted to Ledger and incorporated into their code.

A similar fix was done on the Trezor Hardware wallet.

Komodo holders are now able to claim the Komodo Active User Reward for funds stored in both Ledger and Trezor devices.

NOTE

- The methods below are third party solutions and are not managed by Komodo .

- U2F API is required to communicate with the Ledger device (Chrome / Opera browser recommended) .

Note

If you claim a reward for an address in the Ledger Hardware wallet using the above tool and later look at the same transactions in the ledger live app, it will misrepresent the values involved in the transaction and make it look like coins were lost in the claiming of the Active user rewards. This happens because the Ledger Live app doesn’t understand the Active user rewards and calculates the amounts incorrectly. When in doubt, take a look at the transaction in the Komodo Explorer (kmdexplorer.io) and you will be able to verify that the reward claim txn happened without error.
